Junior year of college, I was given a project to explore new forms of media in one of my informatics classes. I chose to explore the intersection between two mediums- video and photography. After a lot of research into file formats and capture techniques, I spend over 50 hours concept planning, finding subjects, coordinating shoot schedules, posing, directing, transferring data and post producing. The resulting product is inspired by cinemagraph artists of the time and captured subtle movements. While the interactions were shallow (eg. hair in the wind, blinking, weird faces) in nature, they proved to be well captured. Given a redo, I would explore personal mannerisms and do planned activities with my subjects in greater depth.
